Coin Box—VP and President Elect Bonnie McFarland has once again
captured the record for the most coins stuffed in a single Rotary coin box! The verified total for the box turned in last Tuesday was $174.84! The box contained no bills and no checks! Congratulations, Bonnie, for holding the record and driving it higher for the benefit of the Rotary Foundation.
Foundation Fundraising Project—President Deb announced our club’s spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser for the Foundation will be held Saturday, June 20th. Deb reminded members our club’s efforts to contribute $1,000.00 toward the Foundation’s Polio Plus program was to be more than just a club writing a check. RI President DK Lee urged clubs world-wide to engage our communities, promote Rotary and our fight to stamp out Polio and make an strong effort to raise the funds in a very public way. More on the arrangements next time.
District Assembly—President Deb, VP Bonnie, and Secretary Chuck all traveled to Lancaster last Saturday for the District Assembly. Bonnie is gearing up for a very busy year in 2009-2010. President Deb said a new workable club organizational chart was released at the meetings and she is looking forward to working behind the scenes with Bonnie to help in the implementation of a workable organization for Gallipolis Rotary. Secretary Chuck was highly impressed with the Public Relations session he attended and was surprised how the new generation of young Rotarians are making their mark utilizing electronic media. It’s more than just a web page anymore!
Rotary Relays—Relay Chair, Jeff Lanham, reported to the club that the preparations for the annual relays has him a bit perplexed! The initial interest had been strong, but three of the schools have now dropped out. He will give it until Monday, April 13th and will report next week on the prospects of this year’s Rotary Relays.
Congratulations to Bob Eastman—President Deb reported that Bob is continuing to improve after his surgery and is now starting to get out more. Hope to see you at a meeting soon, Bob!
Split-The-Pot—Rotarian Jim Morrison ran STP for the meeting. Our small pot was $7 and the lucky winner today was Shawn Siders. Our large pot has grown to $19 and Shawn missed the ‘big one’ by drawing the eight of clubs. The Foundation Fine was assessed against anyone who did NOT have to go to work today!
Fellowship—Lou Ellen Werry was back running fellowship today and she thanked
Gordon Amsbary for subbing for her during some busy weeks. Dan Whiteley was honored for a recent birthday and for a small donation the entire club sang to Dan.
Happy Buck$—Margaret Evans donated a buck to brag on Lou Ellen’s efforts at the Court and another buck in appreciation of Jeff Lanham’s work on our club’s Relays.
Lou Ellen concluded Fellowship with some interesting facts about Easter. Gordon Amsbary did not have the program today, but he did share a quick joke with the group.
