Marianne Campbell Addresses Rotary Club

Gallia icon, Marianne Campbell, addressed Gallipolis Rotary today informing the assembled Rotarians about the Foundation For Appalachian Ohio.  Before her retirement in 2002 and after more than 30 years with Holzer Medical Center, Ms. Campbell was director of community Relations and executive vice president of the Holzer Foundation for Tri-State Health Care in Gallipolis, Ohio. A communications and marketing specialist by profession, Campbell was in broadcast management for 22 years. She was the first woman president of the Ohio Association for Broadcasters. She was honored as the First Woman in Broadcasting by the American Women in Radio and Television (AWRT), served as national president of AWRT and national chair of the AWRT Education Foundation. New Member Induction—Gallipolis Rotary inducted a new member at our meeting today.  Rotarian and Sergeant-of-Arms, Kurt Dailey, conducted the membership induction ceremony and welcomed Andrea Gannaway into our club.  Andrea will hold the classification of Secondary Education and will be managing the badge box for the next few meetings in order to get to know everyone.  Welcome to the club, Andrea!

President Bonnie McFarland welcomed members and guests to the regular meeting of the Gallipolis Rotary Club.  With us today included visiting Rotarian Bill Knight from Pt. Pleasant and Andrea Gannaway.  We’re so glad you could be with us today!

Club Receives District Simplified Grant—President Bonnie asked Debbie Rhodes and Shawn Siders to come forward to be recognized for the receipt of the District 6690 Simplified Grant for 2009-2010.  Our club received $375 to fund our Books For Schools Project.  Instead of receiving a Rotary coffee mug from our club, our club will donate a special children’s book to one of the county’s elementary school library in their honor.   Shawn will get this check deposited right away.  Past President Debbie thanked her husband, Jeff Rhodes, for all the assistance provided from his experience as a grant writer.  Thank you, Jeff and Debbie, for all your work you gave to our club!
