President Bonnie McFarland opened our meeting and welcomed guests including Shana Booher from Holzer Clinic and Chris Marazan from the Medical Plaza.  Chris and Shana have both completed membership applications and will be considered at the December board meeting.

Christmas Party—The club’s Christmas Party will be held on Tuesday, December 15th in the evening, and therefore, THERE WILL BE NO MORNING MEETING THAT DAY!  President Bonnie and Past President Debbie Rhodes are still working on the venue and will have that information by next week.  We are hoping to have some special entertainment for the evening as well as the traditional ornament exchange. President Bonnie McFarland opened the November 17th, 2009 meeting of the Gallipolis Rotary Club.  Kevin Petrie gave the prayer this morning.

Deb Rhodes announced that Shirley Doss will be our nominee for President Elect.

Bonnie also introduced Kaye Lani Rae Rafko Wilson, Miss America 1988.  Kaye Lani spoke at the Holzer Hospice dinner the previous night and was invited by Bonnie to join our Rotary meeting this morning.  Kaye Lani mentioned that as Miss America, she travelled over 20,000 miles a month, and had many doors opened to her.  She was able to open a Hospice program in her community in less than 3 months, where it usually would take years.  She thanked the Rotary club for our service to the community. President Bonnie opened the November 10th, 2009 meeting of the Gallipolis Rotary Club.  She mentioned that the club received a letter of position resignation from Katrinka Hart.  The Board voted to replace Katrinka, and officially name Shawn Siders, treasurer of the club.  Congratulations, Shawn! Treasurer’s Report:

Shawn provided this month’s Treasurer’s Report.  He mentioned that our checking account went up around $7000 from the monies received from the Bob Evans Farm Festival, however, mentioned that we were still waiting on the bill for the ice cream.  Our income from the farm festival was $8043.65.  He also reported that Margaret Evans won the entire split the pot fund and donated back to the endowment.

Shawn also discussed that there was a decrease in one of the CD’s due to a donation to the Phillipines for disaster relief.  There was also $115.20 that was raised for the Relay for Life effort through the auction project.  Deb motioned to accept the Treasurer’s Report, Mel seconded, and all were in favor.
