Gallipolitan for December 1st

Gallipolis Rotary came to order with a new table arrangement today.  The consensus around the room was this arrangement was good for our meeting today.  Debbie Rhodes provided the invocation.

Rotary Reading—Wednesday, December 2nd is this month’s reading day and Grae Schuster, Deb Rhodes, and Melissa Kimmel will be reading to first graders this month.

President’s Council will be meeting this month.  Past President Deb Rhodes will be organizing the meeting.

Christmas Party—President Bonnie announced the annual Christmas Party will be on December 15th and THERE WILL NO REGULAR MORNING MEETING that day.  The final arrangements will be firmed up this week and Bonnie will have all the details next week.  Mark your calendars for an evening dinner meeting on Tuesday, December 15.  Update: The fete will be held at the new Merry Winery location at  SR 850 and US 35.

Split-The-PotJim Morrison ran STP for our meeting today and the winning ticket was called out a number of times.  Finally, Chuck Clark noticed that he had the winning ticket for the day and won the $5.00 small pot.  Chuck missed the ‘big one’ of $36.00 by drawing the ten of spades.  The Foundation Fine was assessed against anyone who has not ‘shot his/her deer this week.’  President Bonnie wanted to clarify that downing one with her car might count.  Sorry, Bonnie!

FellowshipCleeland Willis ran club fellowship for the meeting and informed the club that his son, ADG Matt was undergoing heart catherization this morning.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you Matt!  President Bonnie had a Happy Buck today and there were no fines for late comers or birthdays.  Cleeland finished up with a thought for the day.

Program—Our program for the day was “Plan C” as our scheduledJim_Bonnie speaker from the Rotary District, Tara Craaybeek, had to reschedule and Jim Morrison’s planned substitute speaker could not attend so Jim provided a very informative program on SCUBA.  Jim took a few minutes to promote Rotary International’s Global Networking Groups.  Jim reminded that there are organized fellowships and groups for nearly every hobby.  Jim knew he would like the Rotary SCUBA group called the International Fellowship of Rotarian Scuba Divers or IFORSD because of their slogan, ‘Surface Above Self.’  Jim demo’d his own underwater video system and showed some video from a recent dive to the Turks and Caicos Islands.  This was awesome footage showing various fish, corals, sponges, and even a octopus.  Thanks for the great program, Jim!
