Gallipolis Rotary welcomed Elaine Householder a junior student from THE Ohio State University and our club’s sponsored candidate for a 2011 Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship.  President Bonnie McFarland, left,  presented our speaker with our club’s Books For Schools certificate for her program today.

President Bonnie opened our meeting and ADG Matt Willis gave the invocation.  Bonnie extended a hearty welcome to all members today in stark contrast to the snowy weather which kept many Rotarians from last week’s meeting. (more…)

Bonnie called the meeting to order.

Treasurer’s Report:  Shawn reported that $1362 was paid to the Rotary for our semi-annual dues.  There are $2600 in outstanding dues that need to be collected. (more…)

President Bonnie McFarland called the meeting to order. 

Treasurer’s Report:  Shawn reported that we paid $987.79 to Black Tie to BBQ for the Christmas Dinner.  Also, books were ordered from Amazon.com to donate on behalf of our weekly speakers of $770.82.  Deb Rhodes inquired if we have received a grant from the district, Shawn reported that we had not received this.  He also reported at $1000 growth in our Fidelity investments.

Secretary’s Report:  Chuck reported that our attendance for December was 70.4%.  Our average for the first 6 months of the year was 69%.  Ten Rotarians had perfect attendance.

Foundation & ByLaws:  Deb Rhodes & Shirley Doss have not had the opportunity to work on these, but will have ready by the next board meeting.

Paul Harris Fellows:  Need to name Paul Harris Fellos by the first of February.

Valentine’s Day:  Bonnie to check with Dave’s American Grill for the evening of February 9th, 2010.    Shirley also mentioned that we will have our Spaghetti Dinner on April 20th.  Bonnie also mentioned that she would like to honor Alvera Robinson at the Valentine’s Dinner.

Other Business:  Bonnie will check and see if we are still planning to have the Rotary Relay Races.

The Gallipolis Rotary Club, for 39 consecutive years has offered a scholarship program to benefit graduating high school students from Gallia County schools entering the world of higher education.  The deadline for receipt of the application is Friday, April 16, 2010.
