Gallipolis Rotarians and guests enjoyed a change of pace evening dinner meeting at Dave’s American Grill in celebration of Valentine’s Day.  President Bonnie McFarland welcomed everyone and an invocation was provided by ADG Matt Willis.  Past President, Debbie Rhodes, President Bonnie, and Jodie McCalla put their heads together in the planning of this special evening.

President Bonnie took the Bonnie_Alviraoccasion to offer a special welcome to Don and Alvera Robinson.  Bonnie with the help of Jodie McCalla, officially crowned Alvera, ‘Queen of Hearts’  for the evening.     Rotarian Don joined Gallipolis Rotary in 1970 and he and Alvera are both Paul Harris Fellows.  Don was president of Gallipolis Rotary in 1983-1984 and held perfect attendance for many years.   Alvera has helped our club in so many ways over the years, especially volunteering at the Bob Evans Festival and helping raise money for Rotary Polio Eradication with a spaghetti supper last year.

QueenHere is Don with Past President Debbie Rhodes, President Bonnie, Alvera, and Jodie McCalla.

Don and Alvera like to participate in as many Rotary activities when they are able.  The club designated Don with the title of Honorary Rotarian so he need not try to make our early morning meetings or try to roll out in snowy weather!  Thank you, Don and Alvera, for all you do for Rotary.

A special treat for Rotarians was some special vocal music provided byShana Shana Smith, who sang a number of love songs which were perfect for the occasion.  Shana is enjoying living in Gallipolis with Rotarian husband, Dave, a somewhat different venue from her former Nashville.  Gallipolis Rotarians were thrilled with the quality of her performance and skill.  Thank you, Shana and Dave, for sharing the hospitality and song!

Reminder, we’re back to our regular place and time next week!
