THE GALLIPOLIS ROTARY CLUB BLOG

Gallipolis Rotary held its community spaghetti dinner to benefit Rotary’s Polio Plus Program.  Thanks to the promotion efforts by members, newspaper and Facebook, we served over 200 dinners and sold a number of takeout customers.  The pictures below show a full dining room, a busy kitchen, and satisfied customers!  This benefit could not have been successful if it were not for the kitchen skill of Alvera Robinson and the organizational skill of project chair, Shirley Doss.  Thank you both for your efforts today!

We meet back at the Doctors’ Dining Room next Tuesday at 7:15 am, and Shawn Siders will provide our program.  There will be Board Meeting after our regular meeting.

President Bonnie McFarland opened the regular meeting of the Gallipolis Rotary Club promptly at 7:15 am and Kurt Dailey provided the invocation.  Bonnie welcomed our guests today—visiting Rotarian Bill Knight from Pt. Pleasant Rotary, and Joe Wright, from the French Art Colony.

District Assembly—Bonnie announced our club will be well represented at this Saturday’s District Assembly in Circleville.  Attending will be President Bonnie, President-Elect Lou Ellen Werry, Treasurer Shawn Siders, Secretary Chuck Clark, Resty Alonzo, and PDG Mel Simon.  This is the largest group representing our club attending a district function in recent years! President Bonnie McFarland called the April Board Meeting to order after the weekly club meeting.

Treasurer’s Report—Treasurer Shawn Siders distributed copies of the March Financial Report.  Shawn pointed out a minor change to the reports with a recap summary as the first page and accompanying details in the following pages.  Shawn pointed out two new restricted funds have been created one savings account for Scholarships and another savings account for special projects.  Transfers have been made from the regular checking account into these restricted accounts.  The scholarship account was also funded through a 4.6% withdrawal from our club Foundation account.
