President Bonnie McFarland called the April Board Meeting to order after the weekly club meeting.
Treasurer’s Report—Treasurer Shawn Siders distributed copies of the March Financial Report. Shawn pointed out a minor change to the reports with a recap summary as the first page and accompanying details in the following pages. Shawn pointed out two new restricted funds have been created one savings account for Scholarships and another savings account for special projects. Transfers have been made from the regular checking account into these restricted accounts. The scholarship account was also funded through a 4.6% withdrawal from our club Foundation account.
Secretary’s Report—Secretary Chuck Clark reported our membership now stands at 41 with today’s induction of Zac Fosler. Our average attendance slipped in March to 67.4%.
Books for Schools—Debbie Saunders reported she has been contacted by the Gallia Academy Middle School because of a shortage of books since the high school moved to the new location. After discussion the Board tabled any action to give Debbie more time to thoroughly research the issue.
Polio Plus Spaghetti Dinner—Shirley Doss reported the Spaghetti Dinner is going to be held on Tuesday, April 27th at the Senior Resource Center and Alvera Robinson will be directing the cooking. The ‘Sauce Fest’ will take place on Sunday, April 25th. Shirley has planned for more promotion this year and club members need to be responsible for inviting at least 4-5 paying customers!
Presidential Citation—President Bonnie announced that bringing our roster to 41 members give us +1 member for the year. With the acceptance of our Polio Plus donation, our club should qualify for a Presidential Citation this year.
Scholarships—Jodie McCalla is doing a great job getting the word out to the schools for scholarship candidates. Kevin Petrie read the last email from Jodie stating the requirements for the awards by our club.
Rotary Ice Cream Sales—Ray McKinniss from Bob Evans Farms said that the Velvet Company is interested in attending one of our meetings and presenting some ‘value added’ ideas for our ice creams sales at the BEF Festival. Paul Koch will get in touch with Ray and with Velvet and work out a date for a program.
Rotary Pledge—President Bonnie distributed a sample Rotary Pledge which needs to be worked into our induction of new members. Bonnie is also working on developing guidelines for our member induction ceremony.
Meeting was adjourned.
