President Bonnie called this week’s Rotary meeting to order. Matt Willis gave the invocation.

Bonnie announced that Jenny Evans was back for the summer! Welcome back, Jenny!

Resty Alonzo introduced his special guest, Dr. Dean Siciliano.

Scholarship Chairman, Jodie McCalla, introduced two of our four scholarship winners this morning, Melissa Stump from OVCS, and Jasmine Waugh from South Gallia.    Both ladies brought their mothers with them today, and in Jasmine’s case, her mom is her math teacher!  Jasmine and Melissa were very impressive, as they both have a lengthly list of extra-curricular and service activities.  Congratulations, girls!

Bonnie also reported that Gallipolis Rotary was well represented at the District Conference this weekend.  Dr. Mel Simone was honored with the Humanitarian and Peace Award, which Mel likened to receiving an Oscar.  Congrats, Mel! We are very proud to have you in our club.  In addition, Bob Eastman was memorialized during the conference.

President Bonnie also mentioned that we had a good turn out for the Ro-Ki-Li meeting this year.  24 Rotarians, 11 Lions, and 6 Kiwanis were in attendance.

Relay for Life - Kevin Petrie - Kevin encouraged the group to sell at least two luminary forms at $10/each.  We also need walkers for the Relay for Life event.  So far, we have raised $600 and we need $1000 for a tent.

Fellowship - Gordan Amsbary - Gordan reported that it was the 138th day of the year and that it was International Museum Day.  Apollo 10 launched this day in 1969 and it is National Visit Your Relatives Day.  There were no happy bucks today! :(  Gordan left us with the following thought, “The best way in the world to have more is to desire less.”

Split the Pot - Jim Morrison - Today, we had $7 in the small pot and $186 in the large pot.  Jim Morrison won the pot (I think it may have been rigged…, but he only ended up with the small pot).  The fine was if you were not wearing a green knit shirt.

Program - Dr. Dean Siciliano - Our program this morning was very educational about Vascular/Interventional Radiology  Dr. Siciliano had many years of education to achieve his desired occupation, almost 15 years!  He mentioned the various ways in which interventional radiology has changed medicine and has prevented the need for invasive surgery over the last few years.

Bonnie adjourned the meeting.
