President Lou Ellen called the meeting to order with a few announcements.  She announced that our first round of Board elections will be next Tuesday, due to this week’s low numbers because of the Thanksgiving holiday.  Also, we have 37 Rotarians signed up for this year’s Christmas Party, which will be held at the Ariel Theatre on December 14.  Cocktails begin at 6:00 PM, with dinner following at 6:30 PM.  Lou Ellen also reported that the Rotary Board approved the purchase of books for Rotary reading at schools.Back Camera

Split the Pot - Rotarian Paul Koch ran STP today.  The small pot was $6 & the large pot was $80.  Kurt Dailey was our winner! Kurt won STP the first day he joined Rotary, and has  not won since, so Congrats to Kurt!

Fellowship - We had a few happy bucks today.  Congratulations to Kurt & Emily, our “Renewed” newlyweds for renewing their vows this week.  Dave Nadler is now a parent to a 13 year old girl, so we shouldn’t look for him to have any fine money on hand from now on! Rotarian Jodie McCalla also announced that despite her lack of ability to get to Rotary meetings on time ($1 fine), she was promoted by OVB this week!  Margaret Evans & Paul Koch also submitted a happy buck for the GAHS Madrigal Variety show for FINALLY being over for the year. Dictionary Thanks

Thank You Letters—Our club has received a nice group of wonderful thank you letters from the 5th graders at Vinton Elementary School.  The students enthusiastically thanked the Gallipolis Rotary club for the dictionaries we distributed in October.  Here are a few interesting comments and original spellings from their letters:

“It will help me out a whole lot!  I am trying to find out the meaning.  Dictionarys Rule!”

Another student wrote, “Thanks for the Dictionarys they work very good so far and I m going to use them forever and I left it in good shape!”

Chase wrote, “I hope you guys raise a lot of money!”

And this: “I want to be in the rotary club when I get older.  The rotary club does a lot for kids like us, thank you.”

And finally my favorite:  “Thank you for the Dictionary.  My sister has a Dictionary that you gave her.  Who invented the webster Dictionary.” (more…)
