December Board Meeting

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

Present:  Shirley Doss, Chuck Clark, Heather Crum, Deb Saunders, Gordon Amsbury, Mel Simon, Shawn Siders, Paul Koch, Shana Booher.

 President Shirley reminded Jodie that Pre-PETS will be Feb. 18th, since Jodie won’t be able to attend, she will arrange for the materials to be sent.  She also asked Shawn to send $300 to the Community Christmas Project and pay the rental fee for the Farm Festival tent to the GAHS Band Boosters.

Treasurer’s Report:  There is a large increase in the checking account due to the PMAAF deposit, which will be wired out in the next month.  Shawn also reported that he collected the Ro-Li-Ki money from the other clubs.  Overall, our checking account is down $1000.  Shawn mentioned that we will be able to name 5 Paul Harris Fellows this year.

Secretary’s Report:  Chuck reported that our attendance was 96% last month!

Scholarships:  The Board agreed to once again provide 4-$1000 scholarships for the 2012 graduates.

Other Business:  Shirley recommended that the Rotary Club pay $60 for the singer during the Christmas Party.  Paul moved, Debbie seconded, and all were in favor.

November Board Meeting

The Board of Directors of the Gallipolis Rotary Club held its meeting after the regular scheduled club meeting on November 1, 2011.

Financial Report–Treasurer Shawn Siders presented the financial report for the club for the past month.  The report showed gross revenue from the Bob Evans Festival which totaled $8684.98 for the three days.  Shawn indicated the club is still waiting for the final bill for the ice cream expense before a true net profit figure can be stated.

New Business–President Shirley Doss recommended the club support the Community Christmas Program Fund (formerly Angel Tree) which provides needy children with winter coats.  VP Jodie McCalla moved the club contribute $300 to help pay for the dry cleaning of donated coats.  Motion was seconded by Lee Saltzgaber, and the motion was approved.

The board discussed supporting the SIFE efforts to contribute canned foods to a local food pantry.  It was decided the club would encourage members to contribute canned goods at each of three meetings in November– 8th, 15th and 29th.

The board also approved a motion by Lee Saltzgaber  to pay 50% or $190 of the Band Boosters tent fee for the BEF Festival, which the club has paid in years past.  Second was provided by Jodie McCalla and the motion was approved.

October Board Meeting

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors of the Gallipolis Rotary Club was held on October 4th, at 8 am, directly after the weekly club meeting.  Attending included President Shirley Doss, VP/President-elect Jodie McCalla, Treasurer Shawn Siders, Secretary Chuck Clark, Shana Booher, Lee Saltzgaber, Margaret Evans, Deb Rhodes, Bonnie McFarland, and PDG Mel Simon.

Financial Report—Treasurer Shawn Siders gave the club financial report.  The Foundation accounts have taken a hit from the downturn in the markets.  The club remains in a positive financial position overall.  Member outstanding dues totals $1,625.72.

Fair Board Meeting—VP Jodie McCalla reported on a recent fair board meeting which mostly concerned the development of a new fair site above the current flood plane.

Old Business—President Shirley announced the current dues structure will remain the same at $5.00 per week which includes breakfast.  The amount of food has been reduced to avoid waste and a survey of members will take place in a few weeks.  Secretary Chuck had asked VP Jodie to develop an alternative ‘new generations’ model for the club, but the club is not currently interested in any changes.

New Member—The membership of Amber Johnson was approved by the board and Secretary Chuck will contact Amber to arrange for an orientation meeting.

September Board Meeting

Attending included President Shirley Doss, VP/President Elect Jodie McCalla, Treasurer Shawn Siders, Secretary Chuck Clark, Shana Booher, Lee Saltzgaber, Paul Koch, and Margaret Evans.

Treasurer’s Report—Treasurer Shawn Siders distributed copies of the financial report of the club as of 9/2/11.  The financial picture of the club looks good except for the impact of the down markets on our funds in our Foundation.  Members reviewed the report and it was accepted  into the club records.

Membership—Our club now has 44 active members and our attendance average for last month was 68.9%.

Youth Initiative Project—Some discussion was held on the continuing youth initiative.  Project Leader, Lee Saltzgaber, indicated no firms plans exist as yet, as we are not certain the club is behind such a project.  There is some interest in the community and further discussions with organizations such as the fair board need to take place.

Club Meal Changes—The board has requested that Secretary Chuck investigate the possibility of our club offering an a la carte breakfast or beverage only service instead of our traditional full breakfast.  This will save on waste and also save money for members.  He will report at the next club meeting.
