THE GALLIPOLIS ROTARY CLUB BLOG

Attendees Present:  Shawn Siders, Chuck Clark, Shirley Doss, Lou Ellen Werry, Jenny Evans, Jodie McCalla, Bonnie McFarland.

Lou Ellen reported that the DG will be visiting next week at the morning meeting.  He will be meeting with the board on Monday night, 7/26/2010.  Chuck will report on our membership statistics, Shawn will give a brief Treasurer’s Report, and Jodie will report on the Rotary Memorial Scholarships and the Rotary presence on Facebook.  Shirley and Lou Ellen will give an overview of the club & our programs.

Shawn reported that we have not received dues from a few active members for many months.  Bonnie moved to approve Mel’s medical mission, Shirley seconded, all were in favor.  Jodie moved to table the budget until next meeting so we each had a chance to review. 

 Bonnie presented the board with the Partners of Hope Cancer Coalition, they are asking for a donation of $325.  Jodie motioned to approve, Jenny seconded, all were in favor.

Jodie also asked the club to consider registering to cook chili at this year’s Chili Fest on October 2, 2010. 

 Meeting was adjourned.

President Bonnie McFarland called the April Board Meeting to order after the weekly club meeting.

Treasurer’s Report—Treasurer Shawn Siders distributed copies of the March Financial Report.  Shawn pointed out a minor change to the reports with a recap summary as the first page and accompanying details in the following pages.  Shawn pointed out two new restricted funds have been created one savings account for Scholarships and another savings account for special projects.  Transfers have been made from the regular checking account into these restricted accounts.  The scholarship account was also funded through a 4.6% withdrawal from our club Foundation account. Treasurer’s Report:  Shawn went over transactions out of our checking account that included a $300 donation to the French Art Colony and $650 for morning meals.  He mentioned that we had expenses due to the Valentine’s Day dinner and toward sponsorsing a shelter box.  He also mentioned that we redeemed a CD for $2500.  Shawn also mentioned that a portion of our fines, happy bucks, etc. are supposed to go into the Savings account and he had not been doing that until now.  We should see activity in our Savings account due to this.
