Board Meeting 12-30-2010

Members Present: Lou Ellen Werry, Shawn Siders, Chuck Clark, Jodie McCalla

Lou Ellen asked club to help cover the Christmas project. She needs $60 to cover the expenses. Chuck motioned to cover, Jodie seconded, all in favor.

Lou Ellen also mentioned that we needed to nominate Paul Harris Fellows.  She will send an email to the Board. She also mentioned that Kevin Petrie on leave of absence as of this week.  It was also decided that we will have the Valentine’s dinner the week before Valentine’s Day this year.

Treasurers report:

Shawn reported that the biggest change in the checking account was due to a $3000 contribution to the investment fund. We also donated $1000 to the outreach pantry, and $499.50 was for Christmas party. Shawn will look into paying bills with our OVB credit cards to receive rewards to use for possible fundraising options.   Shawn also reported there was an increase in investments from market and the $3000 contribution.

Shawn reported that as of Jan 1, $1917.50 in dues were outstanding.

Chuck will send letter to Rotarians that have been inactive and have not paid their dues.

Secretary’s Report: 

Chuck reported we have 43 members for 2010. December attendance was 71%.

Chuck suggested sending Don & Alvera congratulations for their 60th anniversary. Board agreed.

Board Meeting 11-18-2010

Lou Ellen called the meeting to order.

Treasurer’s Report - Shawn reported that he had paid October’s meals and for the BE ice cream, electricity, and tent.  He also paid out $2000 for the medical mission.  Shawn also reported that we received $162.76 in grant money.

It was also decided to set aside $250 for Rotary Reading books.  Jodie McCalla motioned to approve, Bonnie seconded, all were in favor.

It was also decided to give $1000 to the Outreach Center.  Bonnie motioned, Chuck seconded, all were in favor.

The board also decided to move $3000 from our checking account to the Rainy Day fund.

Announcements -  Lou reminded the board about the Christmas Dinner.

October Board Meeting

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

Attending included Shawn Siders, Debbie Saunders, Margaret Evans, Shirley Doss, Lou Ellen Werry, Chuck Clark and Gordon Amsbary.

The first order of business was a request from Shirley Doss for the club to reappoint and confirm Resty Alonzo as the club’s representative to the Gallia County Council On Aging board.  Shirley moved this request which was seconded by Debbie Saunders.  The motion carried.  Congratulations, Resty!

Treasurer’s Report—Shawn distributed the new financial reports for the club noting the receipts from the BEF Festival now show in our checking account.  The funds raised with the Kindle raffle have been disbursed to benefit the middle school libraries in Gallia county.  All club liabilities have been paid with the exception of the ice cream/tent rental bill from the Festival.  After some discussion the motion to accept the financial report was made by Shirley Doss and again seconded by Debbie Saunders.  Motion carried.

Christmas Dinner—Shirley led the discussion regarding the planned Christmas dinner and ornament exchange which will be held on Tuesday, December 14th, at the Merry Winery.  Our meal will be catered by the Park Front Diner which has been catering at the Winery this year.  A signup sheet will be distributed during upcoming meetings regarding the menu choices.  The club will provide some appetizers and members are encourage to donate toward any wine to share.  A formal invitation will be extended to our Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, Elaine Householder, and her family to join in our festivities.

Books for Rotary Reads—Margaret Evans proposed the club purchase at least one new children’s book for each first grade class we read to each month.  After some discussion it was recommended that Shirley Doss compile a books list for this effort.

Membership Approved—The board approved the membership of Lee Bauman of Wing Haven in Vinton.  Lee will be inducted on November 9th.

Program Schedule—Shirley Doss reported the finalizing of the program schedule for the balance of the Rotary year.  This schedule will be posted to our web site and blog as soon as possible.
